2019 Events Enjoyed

"Chester County artist Adrian Martinez told the story of Humphry Marshall” January 15, 2019 Chester County artist Adrian Martinez told the story of Humphry Marshall, an American botanist and Quaker during the Revolutionary War. Adrian told the story through his paintings which made history come alive for our audience.
"Evan Pugh's Penn State" Evan Pugh was the first president of Penn State. March 5, 2019 Roger Williams, author of Evan Pugh's Penn State, spoke to a large crowd last night. His presentation about Evan Pugh, who was born in Oxford, was very interesting. We appreciate Roger making the trip from Penn State to share his wealth of knowledge with OAHA!
Susannah Brody, Revolutionary War Story Teller June 20, 2019 Susannah Brody educated and entertained our audience with her stories about Chester County residents during the American Revolution!
“The History of Bainbridge Naval Training Center in Maryland” This base played a significant role in training naval personnel for duty in WWII. April 25, 2019 A large crowd attended our program on the Bainbridge Naval Training Center. Thanks to our speaker, Carolyn Spencer, and others who shared their memories and questions
Display on Architecture Styles in Oxford Friday, August 2, 2019 We had a good day at the Connective Festival. Many people came through to see our display on Architecture Styles in Oxford. We heard many positive comments.
The Story of Eldreth Pottery Tuesday, September 10, 2019 Tuesday’s crowd thoroughly enjoyed Dave Eldreth's presentation on "The Story of Eldreth Pottery". Dave's personal stories and his video were a big hit!
Covered Bridge Mythology - Myths by F.B. Robinson and Apparitions by C.X. Carlson. Friday, October 4th, 2019 Our First Friday visitors enjoyed "Covered Bridge Mythology - Myths by F.B. Robinson and Apparitions by C.X. Carlson." Stay tuned because we will make this display available again if you missed it.
A Small Company of Faithful Ones Tuesday, October 15, 2019 Kevin Brown and Amy King, authors of "A Small Company of Faithful Ones" presented a very interesting program on Oct. 15th. It was clear they were enthusiastic about their research on the Brandywine Guards of Chester County, Company A, 1st Pennsylvania Reserves who served during the Civil War. The audience was enthusiastic as well.
Ann Preston - First Woman Dean of a Medical College Tuesday, November 12, 2019 Roberta McManus presented a well-researched program on Ann Preston, the first woman dean of a medical school, the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania. The story of what Ann Preston was able to achieve was fascinating!
